A bushfire burning north of Esperance, Western Australia, has prompted an emergency warning for residents in Myrup and Bandy Creek. The fire is moving fast and is out of control, threatening lives and properties, including a small airstrip. Authorities urge immediate evacuation for those in the affected area and advise those unable to leave to seek shelter before the fire arrives.

Lives and buildings, including a small airstrip north of Esperance are under immediate threat as firefighters battle an out of control bushfire. An emergency warning was issued for people in parts of Myrup and Bandy Creek just after 2.20pm on Monday, with people urged to evacuate in a south westerly direction if the way is safe. People in the Myrup and Bandy Creek bounded by Quarry Road, Myrup Road, Fisheries Road, Hicks Road and Merivale Road are in danger and are urged to leave now.

“Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute could put your life in danger,” an alert on Emergency WA said. “If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your home. “You must shelter before the fire arrives, as the extreme heat will kill you before the flames reach you.” The fire is moving fast in a north westerly direction and remains uncontained and out of control.
