In upcoming scenes, a worried Belle takes a pregnancy test, though Tom doesn’t share her concerns.
Tom argues that, even though the timing isn’t ideal, Belle has plenty of time to establish herself in her new job, and then they’ll be able to afford for her to take maternity leave. Belle is pleased with the result When Belle points out that he could take paternity leave, he belittles her by pointing out that they wouldn’t be able to survive with out his full income for two years.
