Energy crisis has been ’10 years in the making’

Former Origin Energy Executive Andrew Stock says the energy crisis in Australia has been “10 years in the making”.

“We’ve got a lot of coal out, we’ve got high gas prices because of international factors flowing through to the domestic industry, and we’ve got a cold spell hitting us when a lot of those coal plants are down,” he told Sky News Australia.

Mr Stock said a plan is needed for transitioning the industry to ensure private investment can be made with confidence.
