The changes would accelerate the integration of hydrogen into Australia’s energy mix
The Australian Energy Market Commission has proposed changes to the national gas and energy retail rules to include hydrogen and other renewable gases alongside natural gas.
“In the future, the hydrogen sector may grow to include power generation and some industrial processes. Electrolysers that create hydrogen may also provide beneficial services to the electricity market such as contributing to demand response and essential system services.” Hydrogen is a key component of Australia’s plan, as the nation aims to be at the forefront of a global race to profit from increased demand for the energy source.Advertisement
