The Coalition is not letting up in prosecuting Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek’s list of reasons on why she decided to block a $1 billion gold mine, accusing her of contradicting herself.
The Coalition has once again raked Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek over the coals for contradicting herself in her reasoning to block a $1 billion gold mine.

Picture: Rohan Kelly/ News Corp Australia The shadow environment minister said Ms Plibersek’s had asserted proponents of the mine could put the tailings dam “basically anywhere else” and the project could continue as normal.
In a previous statement, Regis Resources said the project “would not be viable” if Ms Plibersek invoked section 10 on the site of the mine’s Tailings Storage Facility . “Crucially, I have not said that the gold mine can’t go ahead. I said the tailings dam can’t be built on the headwaters and springs of the river,” Ms Plibersek said.“The company has said that they need to go back to the drawing board, that this could take five or 10 years. That’s just nonsense because the bulk of the project has been approved,” she said in August.
