Should demand surpass the extra capacity on hand, ERCOT could tap into CPS’ power reserves. On a hot summer day in Texas, it takes about 1 megawatt to power 200 homes. San Antonio is under an excessive heat warning until Wednesday evening. Temperatures could reach 112 degrees, which would feel like 118 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
