In a city that is often a political target because of rampant violence, gangs and the engulfing prevalence of illegal firearms, it should come as no surprise that the Chicago voters were vastly underwhelmed with Lightfoot’s performance, which included a cantankerous relationship with both the police and teachers’ unions, a dramatic spike in violent crime and an incredibly slow and scientifically illogical recovery plan from the COVID-19 pandemic.
