Nuno Espirito Santo exploring exit from Saudi club with shock Wolves return mooted just 17 months after emotional exit
Nuno Espirito Santo could be set for a surprise move back to Wolves, just three months after moving to Saudi Arabia to take over at Al-Ittihad.
The Portuguese coach only moved out to the Middle East in July, but talkSPORT understands he is now exploring ways of quitting his club in Saudi Arabia ahead of a potential return to the Premier League with former club Wolves.Advisers acting on behalf of Espirito Santo, represented by super agent Jorge Mendes, have flown to the Middle East to discuss releasing him from his contract at Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad.
Espirito Santo is one of a number of options Wolves are considering to replace the sacked Bruno Lage. It comes after the club’s top target Julen Lopetegui rejected the job twice, citing personal reasons for his decision to stay put in Spain after being sacked by Valencia.Espirito Santo left Molineux at the end of the 2020/21 season by mutual consent after a largely successful spell in charge of the Black Country club.
The former goalkeeper led Wolves to Premier League promotion in 2018 and oversaw them becoming an established team in the top flight. Wanderers also reached the Europa League quarter-finals in 2020.It didn’t work for Espirito Santo at Tottenham, and now he’s looking to leave Saudi Arabia after just three months
