Tributes have been paid to a six-year-old boy who has died in hospital almost a week after a one-vehicle crash at the Castledawson roundabout. Ethan Michael McCourt, from the Bellaghy area, was injured following the crash in County Londonderry shortly after 07:45 BST on Monday 20 June.The Right Reverend Monsignor Andrew Dolan described Ethan as a "typical wee boy" who was "just so full of fun".
The parish priest from St Mary's Church in Bellaghy told BBC News NI that the little boy was an only child who would have celebrated his seventh birthday later this week. We are devastated to share the news that our underage player Ethan McCourt has sadly passed to his eternal rest following an accident earlier this week. Deepest condolences to his parents Oonagh & Declan & extended McKenna & McCourt families. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis 🙏🏼
