Etihad Airways has pulled the pin on its long-standing partnership with Virgin Australia.
Etihad Airways has revealed a major change for Australian travellers after Qatar Airways announced its intention to acquire a 25 per cent stake in Virgin Australia .The Abu Dhabi-based airline revealed this week it was ending its codeshare and frequent flyer arrangements with Virgin Australia effective June 1 next year.

Picture: JanValls/Urbanandsport /NurPhoto via Getty Images Etihad Airways, which first started flying to Australia in 2007, said it"remains dedicated to serving" the country, noting it will boost flights to Sydney and Melbourne next year.
Last month, Qatar Airways announced its intention to acquire the 25 per cent stake in Virgin Australia, following on from the airlines launching a strategic partnership in 2022.
