Airport fire crews were called to the runway after the Etihad Airways flight EY461 to Abu Dhabi carrying nearly 300 people "rejected take off".

"The Aviation Rescue and Firefighting Service responded to a request from the aircraft and deployed fire fighting foam as a precaution," a Melbourne Airport spokesperson said.The plane remained on the runway until Monday morning and an investigation is being carried out into what caused the incident.
