The Tourism Minister said giving more freedoms to people who are vaccinated would be an incentive for people to get the jab."But as another further incentive, enabling people to be able to move freely, initially, within our own country – and then potentially once we open up to be able to move more freely overseas – I think is another very good incentive as to why Australians should want to get vaccinated.
Currently, customers that would normally book months in advance are waiting until just weeks out, fearful changes in their location will shatter well-laid plans. That has a huge impact on regions like Cairns that rely on the tourist trade."But we find ourselves in a scenario where we really have difficulty doing that, because of that consistent border issues and COVID bubbles. It's been a really tricky period to navigate, to be honest.
"A vaccination certificate would give us all confidence to actually engage in a lot of these broader activities that maybe we're a little bit nervous about at the moment. "Those decisions will be made by state and federal governments, probably down the track," Services Australia general manager Hank Jongen politely noted, when launching the certificate recently.
