The first 10 countries to have qualified for the live Eurovision final on May 11 have been announced
The first semi-final was held on Tuesday, May 7, in host nation Sweden with ten performers advancing in the major competition. An additional 10 countries will be confirmed on Thursday, May 9 when the second semi-final takes place, reports Wales Online.
In total, 20 countries will join the UK, Italy, France, Spain and Germany, also known as the 'Big Five,' as well as last year's winners Sweden, who are hosting the competition in Malmo. For the first time this year, the big five, who automatically qualify, and Sweden, who qualify as the hosts, will be performing at the semi-finals.
Malta, Albania, Greece, Switzerland, Czechia, Austria, Denmark, Armenia, Latvia, San Marino, Georgia, Belgium, Estonia, Israel, Norway and the Netherlands will compete for their spot at the second live semi-final on Thursday, May 9. However, a batch of performers have already taken to the stage and secured their spot in the next round of the competition.
