Bruno Guimaraes has expressed his surprise at Newcastle's strong start against Tottenham THFC
Newcastle star Bruno has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season‘s victory saw the Toon outfit jump up to third place and extend their lead over Spurs to six points – while also having a game in hand.‘s high-flying team to come out on top against the north Londoners, few would have expected such an emphatic outcome.
Former Lyon midfielder Guimaraes has admitted he wasn’t expecting such a blistering start from Newcastle which further strengthened their hopes of securing a Champions League spot.Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT’s Jim White, Bruno said: “We were expecting to win the game, of course, but we didn’t expect to get five goals in 20 minutes.“Everyone in the team played very, very well and I think we deserved it. Following on from Bruno’s comments, his compatriot Joelinton added: “It was crazy! I think it was the perfect start. “I think only [Manchester] City have scored more goals in less time than us, so like Bruno said, it’s going to be a memory forever. “We started really well like all our games at home, the difference in this game was we took our chances.“Every time we went forward it was like we was going to score, and it was a great and amazing feeling.”Following the match, Tottenham released a statement in which players declared they would beIt led Bruno to remark: “I think it’s a good gesture from the players – we just did our job.
