If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.
When Sam was first introduced, you never would have thought he was the character most likely to survive, right? Maybe you still don’t. But I do. Sam is smart, he mostly stays out of the fighting – but can kill a White Walker or two if he needs to – and he’d have an important part to play in the future of Westeros, whatever that may be.
