With keynote speakers from organisations providing crucial services in their communities, delegates have heard about the work being done to provide more accessible healthcare in rural communities. Kidney disease rates in the Kimberley are among the highest in Australia, with Chronic Kidney Disease as well as End-Stage Kidney Disease far exceeding the national average within the Aboriginal population.

It's a dire situation described as, the kind of problem where everyone in the Kimberley knows someone who is impacted by kidney disease."Our own data don't show us that at the moment, in some ways, you wonder whether, should we be at least happy that that rate isn't increasing but what I can tell you is that all of our data suggests that we need to do more and we need to do it now because we are not decreasing the number of people who have chronic kidney disease.
