The fashion crowd are going digital for the first-ever fully cyber showcase...

But where that once marked the end of the fashion world's seasonal shows for the next six months, this time it fell to Decentraland - a 3D virtual world browser-based platform - to take the reins as it prepared to launch the industry's firstThe inaugural Metaverse Fashion Week kicked off on Thursday, March 24th, and is continuing through until Sunday, March 27th.

Far more inclusive than regular fashion week - for which only the very top industry insiders can gain access - Metaverse Fashion Week guests are welcome to tune into these performances, shows and pop-ups and even have the opportunity to purchase items of clothing straight from the virtual catwalk to dress their 3D digital avatar .While fashion brands are often seen as traditionalists, many of the big names are taking a real leap of faith this season andin Metaverse Fashion Week.

Over the four-day period 50 brands of varying sizes are debuting virtual collections in Decentraland's new ‘Luxury Fashion District’, which is said to have been modelled on Paris’ iconic Avenue Montaigne. Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce & Gabbana, Hugo Boss, Elie Saab, Roberto Cavalli, Coach and Etro are some of the biggest names stepping into, alongside digital-first, emerging brands such as The Fabricant and CSM’s Scarlett Yang. Chanel and Lanvin are showing films in the digital movie theatre.

Estée Lauder is the exclusive beauty brand participating. In partnership with Decentraland, the beauty stalwart has enlisted Alex Box to create a signature look that MVFW attendees can wear virtually on their avatars.
