A former Sydney councillor has told a corruption inquiry that his ex-council colleague grew angry when he said he was willing to tell the truth about $170,000 he says the pair accepted from Chinese property developers.into whether former Hurstville and Georges River councillors Vince Badalati and Con Hindi, and former Hurstville councillor Philip Sansom, accepted benefits in return for supporting multi-million dollar developments in Hurstville from 2014 to 2021.
Uy told him the cash was “for your help on Treacy Street”, Badalati said. He gave evidence that Hindi later admitted Uy had given him the same amount.Badalati admitted to the inquiry he felt a sense of obligation to vote favourably in planning decisions related to the Treacy Street development because of the payment.
