The former Kirtland police chief, fired last year over accusations of “habitual drunkenness” and making sexist, homophobic and racist comments, sued the city and about a dozen city officials on Tuesday.
investigation into Nosse’s actions, both on and off duty. The investigation found, among other things, that Nosse “frequently” used vulgar hand gestures and language, that he verbally abused employees, made inappropriate sexual comments and used racial and homophobic slurs.
He said the issues stemmed from Potter refusing to give him a raise in 2021 because the mayor believed that Nosse regularly drank with Council members after meetings and at their homes. Nosse agreed on April 16 to check into Lutheran Hospital for treatment. He received in-patient treatment until May 29.
