Edsaul Mendoza, 26, surrendered to authorities in Sunday night and faces charges including first-and-third-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter and possessing an instrument of crime, The newspaper said the DA said that just moments after Sideria “fired a shot at an unmarked car carrying Mendoza and three plainclothes officers,” but Krasner said the boy had tossed his gun while running and that the weapon was found “about 40 feet” away from where Mendoza fired the fatal shots.
