Former South Lanarkshire children's librarian Rhona Young has swapped books for bells, whistles, drums, tambourines and other percussion instruments, in order to help develop music skills in the under fives. That was never the case in the children's libraries Rhona worked in, but she is now certainly on a musical mission to totally dispel that stereotype, by helping pre-schoolers to be as loud as they can in order to develop and learn new important skills.

Rhona, who is also a member of her local amateur dramatic society, said: “In terms of brain development, musical performance is as important as reading or writing and my passion for educating young children in the written word, has now easily transferred to the beauty of musical notes. Rhona added: “I love music, singing, being loud and having fun and cannot wait to share these wonderful musical classes with as many youngsters as possible, and watching little ones enjoy themselves, whilst developing and learning new skills.
