Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas has hit out at Australians continuing to shun the office after a new report showed the nation has one of the highest working-from-home rates in the world.

The former TV presenter added workers may have a lower chance of being considered for promotions in their workplace by ditching days in the office. Commentator Cath Webber, who appeared with Mr Zempilas on the panel, said it is important for workplaces to get the balance right.
