Extracts of the book, tendered to the Federal Court, include descriptions of whisky-fueled Christmas parties at Parliament House and the behaviour of an infamous group of Liberal cabinet ministers known as the 'Big Swinging Dicks'.
The outlines of 38 chapters of Brittany Higgins 's memoir, to be titled Not Just a Daughter, were among new evidence made public by the Federal Court as part of Bruce Lehrmann 's defamation case.
Mr Lehrmann is suing the network over an interview on The Project with Ms Higgins, in which she alleged she was raped at Parliament House.He denies the allegation and his criminal trial was aborted due to juror misconduct, leaving no findings against him. According to the court documents, chapter five describes Ms Higgins's "first meeting with the infamous group known as the Big Swinging Dicks in Minister's Ciobo's office: serving them drinks then being invited to join them at Public Bar after work on Wednesday".
The court documents also outlined a first-person account of Ms Higgins's alleged rape at Parliament House, and the widespread reaction when the story first became public, which she said made her feel "deeply suicidal".The court heard the book deal had been navigated by Peter FitzSimons who, along with Lisa Wilkinson, Ms Higgins had labelled her "temporary adopted parents".
