Brenda Steed's message to parents is clear, these pills, often laced with fentanyl, can kill and they're not just in dark city streets, they're in every community out there.

A Los Altos High School student died Friday morning from possible fentanyl poisoning. Mountain View police are investigating.

"I got woken up by my husband screaming at me to call 911 and when I sat up on the couch I could see directly down the hallway. My son was on the floor in the bedroom and my husband was rolling him to his side and then rolling him to his other side and then just started doing CPR on him," said Steed.

"At that point was when they checked his pupils. His pupils looked like they were blown. So that's when we went to the next step." said Steed.
