Fast & Furious star Anna Sawai explains why she joined Apple TV's Pachinko
"The fact that it talked about women's hardship, that really spoke to me. Naomi, who was created by Soo [Hugh, the showrunner], is from the same generation as my mom. So I wanted to tell that story, because she's been through so much."
Speaking about her character and what has resonated with her most about the show, Sawai said:"Well, for me, I think we don't get to see a lot of Naomi's personal side, because most of the scenes are in the office. "But personally, I really love that I was able to talk to Soo about what exactly she's been through, and what her parents wanted for her, and why she was studying in America and yet decided to come back to Japan.
