A 67-year-old pilot died in a light plane crash in northern New South Wales, leaving his family and community devastated. His son, who was also injured in the crash, is in a stable condition.
A 67-year-old experienced pilot, James 'Jim' Auld, died in a light plane crash in northern New South Wales on Sunday. His son, Robert, 32, suffered spinal injuries and underwent surgery in Gold Coast University Hospital. The pair took off earlier on Sunday with a group of light aircraft from the South Grafton Airport. Mr Auld was a dedicated family man, active swimmer, and rugby union player with 50 years' experience as a pilot.
Recreational Aviation Australia has called on the Australian Transport Safety Bureau to investigate the crash
