Speaking on the upcoming Trump presidency, KPMG’s Geopolitics Partner Merriden Varrall said Australia was unlikely to be subjected to tariffs during an appearance on Sky News’ Business Now.Australia was exempt from Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminium during his first administration.

However, the US had a trade surplus of US$27.1bn with Australia in 2022 – one of the largest surpluses it had with any country.
