Demand at testing clinics has dropped dramatically and a Queensland disease expert asserts that they give better data.

A leading infectious diseases expert has urged Queenslanders to seek out a PCR test if they think they have COVID-19, as the state is not getting the full picture of the current virus wave.lines stretched kilometres at most major testing sites in QueenslandA leading disease expert is calling on Queenslanders to go back to testing clinics, saying demand has fallen since the start of the month.

“I think the message that the public has been left with is the only type of test is a RAT and when people can’t find them they’re just not getting tested,” he said.“I don’t think these numbers are real because of that, and that’s a risk from a public health point of view because you don’t have a totally clear view of what the situation is.
