Migrant groups believe state and federal governments have collectively failed to engage with community leaders in responding to coronavirus.
An expert panel of doctors and politicians warned the federal government of a missed opportunity to prevent outbreaks in migrant communities weeks before a spike of infections in Victoria.
Australia has over one million temporary visa holders who have no access to welfare payments and many cannot access universal health care through Medicare. The panel also recommended the COVIDSafe app have information and FAQs available in different languages. People in Australia must stay at least 1.5 metres away from others.
