Oakland Athletics broadcaster Jessica Kleinschmidt talks Stephen Vogt's time in Oakland, his new role with the Guardians and what makes him fit to be a great manager.

After a 10-year career in the major leagues that ended with one final year in Oakland, Vogt retired his playing career to pursue his coaching aspirations.“Right off the bat I knew he was going to be a manager from the moment I met him,” Oakland A’s broadcaster Jessica Kleinschmidt said.

“There was a moment right after he retired where he just went on the field and played catch with his kids, and it was Stephen Vogt,” Kleinschmidt said. “It was Stephen Vogt a dad before anything else.” “There were 50 names that were thrown into the ring for this possibility of the job,” Kleinschmidt said. “They of course wanted Craig Counsell and that didn’t work out, but you’re up against some of the biggest names in the managerial search. He totally blew the front office away in the Zoom interviews and if you meet Stephen Vogt you’re like of course he got hired.”

“He knows the overview of the American League, he knows the overview of the division because he’s been around the block he’s a journeyman too he’s been on multiple teams.”
