The sequel is once again helmed by stuntman-turned-director Sam Hargrave and has earned mostly positive reviews, with the consensus being that it's largely better than the first.

The sequel was watched 42.8 million times during the first three days of its release, putting its total global watch hours at 88 million. This debut is greater even than 2022's Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery's 82.
Extraction 2's Success Explained The first Extraction became a massive hit for Netflix in 2020, earning mostly mixed reviews from critics but evidently striking a chord with viewers. Hemsworth's star power and the film's impressive action sequences, which aren't dissimilar to those in the beloved John Wick franchise, quickly made the film one of the streamer's most popular offerings. The stage was set, then, for Extraction 2 to be an even bigger hit.

Extraction 2 may not have beat Netflix's biggest movies like Red Notice or The Gray Man, but its early performance suggests Extraction 3 is definitely coming.
