Australian sailing royalty Syd Fischer has died at the age of 95, just a few days short of his 96th birthday. 9News
Fischer - from Sydney - had success around the world, competing in eight Admiral's Cups and contesting the America's Cup five times - a record he shares with Sir Thomas Litpon.Syd Fischer and his boat Ragamugffin in 1992. . Fischer is a member of the NSW Sports Hall of Fame, America's Cup Hall of Fame, and Australian Sailing's Hall of Fame.
"His achievements and contributions over the decades are extraordinary," the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia said on Sunday.
