A Queensland Labor MP has been forced to defend wearing an Adolf Hilter t-shirt after photos from his high school year book resurfaced on Friday.
A seemingly regular press conference has been turned on its head after a Queensland Labor MP was confronted with his extraordinary past wearing a"Hitler t-shirt" as he awkwardly tried to explain his high school year book photo.
A Channel Seven reporter put it to Mr Hunt that she had"been made aware of the 1987 Caloundra State High School year book" and"claims there's a photo of you wearing a Hitler t-shirt". Asked to provide context on why he was wearing the t-shirt which also featured the Nazi salute, Mr Hunt replied:"It was a satirical t-shirt based on a world tour t-shirt that was available at the time".
Pressed on whether he regretted wearing the t-shirt, Mr Hunt said:"Oh look, in 1987 I probably wasn't fully aware of its ramifications".Mr Miles was later asked about his reaction to Mr Hunt's explanation, and replied by mentioning the type of t-shirts he wore when he was 17.
