Wendy McKenna thought of an old friend as she celebrated 40 years as a lollipop lady on Western Australia's south coast this week.
But even after so long on the job, Ms McKenna still cracks a smile whenever a school student with an oversized backpack tells her,"See you later, alligator".
As she blows her whistle, holds up her flags and helps them cross the road, she will respond the same way she has for generations:"In a while, crocodile".While her happy attitude has seen her make a lot of friends over the years, she wished that friend with his prophetic prediction could have been around to help her celebrate on Thursday.
