To be fair to Raymond Brody, he did look around for the original owner after spotting a purple note on the floor while walking his dog near Chichester. But ‘survival of the fittest’ soon kicked in and he pocketed the twenty to stick on his energy meter. When he got home, however, Raymond was ‘sick to his stomach’ to find he had picked up a fake, featuring a picture of Jesus Christ.
‘Bank of Heaven’ was written across the top, along with the message: ‘Don’t be fooled, Jesus is the real thing.’: ‘It’s bad enough that someone thinks it’s a good idea to litter in the first place but in today’s economic crisis £20 on the floor can mean feeding a family for a week.
