It is known that the adaptation will take place in Los Angeles, around the same time as the source material.

In addition to Goggins, who is well-known for his role as Boyd Crowder on Justified, the leading cast also includes Kyle MacLachlan , Ella Purnell , and Xelia Mendes-Jones . Behind the camera, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, a co-writer on Captain Marvel, and Graham Wagner, a writer on the comedy series Portlandia, are executive producers and co-showrunners.
The promotional materials for the Prime Video show lean on the game's imagery, showing Vault-Tec's advanced nuclear bomb shelter Vault 33. It also features the familiar Vault-Boy mascot dressed in a Vault 33 jumpsuit.
