Falls Festival is moving to Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl after a plan by organisers to relocate to a rural location 35 kilometres from Lorne landed in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
“Birregurra is close and where a lot of the local community is based, it’s the hub of that area,” Ducrou told“We’d been working for a couple of years towards the Birregurra show. All our planning went into that, and based on the appeal by the objectors to VCAT, we didn’t have time to secure another venue that had similar characteristics and could offer camping.“The majority of the community have been fantastic, and incredibly supportive, as have council.
Mayor of Colac Otway Shire, Cr Kate Hanson, said the upcoming VCAT hearing would provide an “independent review of these objections” and council continued to support the plan.“Council is disappointed for our community groups and business owners who were looking forward to an increase in spending in the region this year by having the Falls Festival here,” she said.
