The trial of three Russians and a Ukrainian charged with murder over the shooting down of the Malaysia Airlines plane five years ago begins next month.

Before retired Wollongong teachers Carol and Michael Clancy departed on their first holiday in Europe in 2014, they left their trip schedule with family to let them know where they would be.They never made it home.

Criminal charges have been laid against four people allegedly responsible for shooting down MH17. They are, from left, Igor Girkin, Sergey Dubinsky, Oleg Pulatov, Leonid Kharchenko."I want Russia to be held accountable for what they have done and for the world to know that is what they did," Mrs Clancy said. "This group of Australian families is the last sizeable national group that has not joined the action in the [European Court of Human Rights]," he said.
