The families of two murdered police officers have welcomed a new national bravery award - but say their campaign for further recognition goes on.
The Elizabeth Emblem - named after the late Queen - will be given to all emergency service workers and public servants who have died in the line of duty. They say the medals should have been awarded at the time but both men’s heroism was overlooked by the authorities. The Elizabeth Emblem is the civilian equivalent of the Elizabeth Cross, which recognises members of the UK armed forces who have died in action or due to a terrorist attack.
