Sean Thompson, from Knottingley, disappeared more than 30-years-ago
Sadly, many people across the country go missing every day and while the majority are found safe, some are never found at all.
This is the case in the strange disappearance of Sean Thompson over three decades ago. On March 18, 1993, 25-year-old Sean Thompson left his home in Knottingley on his way to the Job Centre. However, he never came home and both his family and the police have been looking for him since then.There have never been any sightings of Sean since that day up to now, 31-years-later. The police have put out updates on occasion, with the latest coming in 2013, on the 20th anniversary of his disappearance.
The police also spoke at the conference, saying it was "very unusual" for someone to be not seen or heard of for so long, and that someone must know where Sean is. Detective Chief Inspector Neil Lineham said, at the time: "I would like nothing more than to reunite this family with Sean but if there is any reason why this isn't going to be possible I would like Sean to contact the police or the Missing People charity in the strictest of confidence.
One feature which may help find him was that he suffered from a condition known as metatarsus varus, also known as metatarsus adductus. This is a foot deformity which causes the toes to bend inwards and caused Sean to walk on his tip-toes.
