Officers were called to a shop on Oxford Street in Cambridge Park, near Penrith, after reports of an assault at about 9.40am. The bodies, believed to be those of a man and woman aged in their 60s, were first discovered by a family member who then called the police, Det Acting Supt Michael Cantrell told reporters on Saturday afternoon. Cantrell said the investigation was “in its infancy” and there were “many lines of inquiry”, but police had “no suspects at this stage”. He appealed to any witnesses who may have been in the Cambridge Park area on Oxford Street early on Saturday morning or late on Friday night to come forward.“It shows a male in the vicinity, the time is yet to be confirmed, but it is certainly a line of inquiry,” he said.Police urged anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
