A family of seven has suffered an Easter morning shock and are 'extremely lucky to have survived' after an explosion rocked their home in Sydney's inner west | jennynoise

A NSW Police spokeswoman said all seven occupants, aged between eight and 73, are believed to have been in the same room – possibly the kitchen – at the time of the explosion.

A spokesman for NSW Ambulance said one child and one elderly patient had serious injuries and were taken to hospital in a stable condition; four others were transported to hospital with minor injuries. Fire crews are at the scene and investigators are on their way to determine the cause of the explosion, which was not immediately evident.
