The defendant entered a guilty plea

A fan at this year's British Motorcycle Grand Prix at Silverstone injured a man in a stolen golf buggy. Daniel Clark, 30, ran into a man after the vehicle was pinched on Sunday, August 7 - the day of the race.

Clark, of High Street, Welford, knew a "mechanically propelled vehicle, namely a golf buggy, had been taken without the consent of the owner or other lawful authority". He then "allowed himself to be carried in or on the said vehicle" after it was unlawfully taken and before it was recovered, Northampton Magistrates Court heard.

Clark was sentenced to a community order and must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work after owing to the driving of the vehicle when "an accident occurred" by which injury was caused to a male victim. The defendant, who appeared in person at court, entered a guilty plea to the single charge. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £199 in court costs and a victim surcharge.

Just 0.614 seconds covered the top three after 20 laps of racing at the Silverstone with Aprilia Racing’s Maverick Viñales finishing second and Jack Miller making it a double podium for the Ducati Lenovo Team.
