Traditionally players hanging up their boots are ferried around the MCG on the back of utes giving fans at the ground a chance to thank and farewell their heroes. Franklin’s attendance at the motorcade was up in the air in the lead up to the Grand Final but a close friend has confirmed he chose to stay with his family on the Gold Coast.During the speculation about Franklin’s attendance AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan pleaded with the two-time premiership player to show face at the ground on Saturday afternoon.
