There’s been criticism of Sevilla’s stadium
Sevilla’s Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium ‘has disqualified itself as a venue for future major sporting events’ after fans at the Europa League final were left drinking from lawn sprinklers due to a lack of water.
Supporters of both teams in southern Spain were left angry by the final’s poor organisation, according to, as attendees were left to endure the Seville heat without any water on sale for the majority of the night. UEFA announced it will assess the final alongside the local organising committee, the stadium operator, the food and drink providers and the police.
“Many fans only got something to drink in their hotels or stood under lawn sprinklers. The taxi situation also proved catastrophic. All in all, Seville was not a worthy venue for the final – and UEFA’s award was a mistake.
