Thousands of basketball fans who forked out big money to see the Australian Boomers' two games against Team USA could be eligible for refunds after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission stepped in.

Over 100,000 tickets were sold to the two events at Marvel Stadium with fans expecting to see NBA stars such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Paul George in action after TEG used their faces on the original promotions. "In our view, TEG Live's conduct was unacceptable, and we are pleased around 5000 consumers will receive automatic refunds before the end of July," ACCC Chair Rod Sims said.
