In a world of high fashion, what appears to be one tiny editing mistake in the new Devil Wears Prada 2 trailer has stolen the spotlight. Fans spotted a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it error in the final trailer released for the upcoming film on Monday, April 6.
The faux pas happens during a street scene as Anne Hathaway’s character, Andy Sachs, confidently struts through New York looking effortlessly polished. An onlooker leaning out of a taxi can be seen holding up her cellphone, clearly filming her. Social media users had a field day after one person captured the apparent editing snafu on X. In the context of the film, Andy is a magazine editor going about her day, not a celebrity being recorded. “This girl having her phone just wide out the window in the trailer is frying me,” the viral post read, garnering more than 200,000 views. “Because that’s Andy Sachs. A million girls would kill for that job!” one person replied. “The way my eyes don't catch this stuff is !” a second remarked, while a third quipped, “I mean, we all would….” Hathaway, 43, reprises her iconic role alongside Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, who will be back on the big screen as editor Miranda, former assistant Emily and art director Nigel, respectively. One familiar face moviegoers won’t see this time around is Adrian Grenier, who portrayed Andy’s boyfriend, aspiring chef Nate, in the original 2006 film. He exclusively told Us Weekly on March 13 that he never got the call to take part. “I would be bitter if I wasn’t so absolutely thrilled for Anne and the crew, and excited for the sequel myself. I’m a fan of the movie, and so I look forward to seeing the sequel as well,” he told Us last month. “So yeah, I mean, obviously, I was disappointed , but you know, I can’t be in everything, you know?” “I mean, Andy’s moving up, and, you know, I get it. Nate’s the devil, according to some people,” he added. “I hope they invite me to the premiere at least, come on!” The Entourage actor, 49, joked about the snub in a recent Starbucks ad. “You might have seen the headlines — I wasn’t asked to be part of a certain sequel,” he quipped in the commercial that dropped on Tuesday, April 7. “But I’m good. Really. It’s all good energy.”
