ULMaS was the highest performing state school in the North of England in 2023
Students and staff from the University of Liverpool Maths School are celebrating after receiving a fantastic set of A-level results following this summer’s exams.
87% of A-Level entries achieved A*, A or B grades, while 72% achieved A* or A grades, and one-third, or 33%, of entries received an A*. Headteacher Damian Haigh explained: “What we have found is that students who are given the right social and wellbeing support, teachers who are deeply interested in the subjects they teach, and access to a caring and inclusive peer group, can achieve results far higher than their GCSE results would suggest.
"ULMaS was by far the best school I've ever been to: the push to learn high-level concepts has moulded how I solve problems to this day. Headteacher Damian Haigh added: “It is hugely pleasing to see the excellent results that these hard working and talented students have achieved and the impressive courses they are moving to next.
So far, 2024 has proven to be an enormously successful year at ULMaS - prior to receiving these excellent results, the school was inspected by Ofsted in March and judged to be Outstanding in all areas.
