The Fantastic Beasts movies have been building up to Grindelwald's Deathly Hallows search, but with the series in limbo, it may be too late.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movies have been dropping hints of Gellert Grindelwald's Deathly Hallows search, but it may be too late to bring this to the screen. The Harry Potter prequel series has been significantly less successful than the original book and film series and may come to a premature end. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore had the lowest numbers at the box office yet, making the possibility of a fourth installment unlikely.

The biggest of these questions is how Dumbledore could have defeated Grindelwald in their final battle since the Elder Wand is supposed to be unbeatable. There has to be some loophole at play, and the Fantastic Beasts movies have already set up even this. In the first film Grindelwald, disguised as Percival Graves and using a different wand, was disarmed by Porpentina Goldstein. Harry Potter revealed that disarming even another wand will sway the loyalty of the Elder Wand.
