Safety remains a huge issue on the state's farms where a number of people have died this year, including a young man killed in a cattle truck incident last month.
Safety advocates are pushing for farmers to report all incidents, including near misses, so they know where to improve safety education.
A total of 56 agricultural incidents have been reported to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland this year, and of these, 24 have involved a hospital admission.Farm Safe Australia vice chair Ruth Thompson said complacency could lead to accidents."Unfortunately, it only takes one incident for somebody to get hurt."Ms Thompson said labour shortages meant farmers were working longer hours, leading to an uptick in accidents.
Riders are also prohibited from taking passengers unless the bike is specifically designed for this purpose, and the passengers meet the manufacturer's age specifications or are over the age of 16. She said whether the person was a worker, a family member or a contractor, it was necessary to do an induction — and formalised risk assessments were vital too.
